Elva Audine Dowdle was born to Andrew Tilden Dowdle and Ola Wyatt Dowdle on Aug. 7, 1929, in the Milford Community at Lockesburg. She passed away on Oct. 23, 2024, in Texarkana, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Audine graduated from Lockesburg High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, John H. Butler, on Nov. 12, 1949. Audine worked at Red River Army Depot. They made their home in Texarkana until they retired and moved to their farm in Lockesburg. They loved raising a big garden and sharing their veggies.

Although Audine had no children of her own, she always said she had a lot of children and grandchildren because she loved her nieces and nephews and their children as if they were her own. And they all loved their “Aunt Sook”.

Audine was a member of Lockesburg United Methodist Church and also loved attending Milford Community Church as long as she was able. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved the Sunday afternoon singing at Milford.

Audine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; one brother, Andrew Dowdle, Jr., and two sisters, Ellen Revels and Bobbie Butler.

She is survived by two sisters, Irma Friday of Lockesburg and Sammye Winton and her husband, Wayne of Dierks; one sister-in-law, Ginger Dowdle of Lockesburg and her two niece caregivers, Brenda Brackett and Joni Clay, both of Lockesburg, and many other nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services for Audine will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at United Methodist Church in Lockesburg with Bro. Tommy Halsell and Karon Baxley officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery in Lockesburg under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at the funeral home in De Queen.
