FD Gibson passed away on April 14, 2024, with his family beside him in Springdale, Ark.
FD was born on Jan. 12, 1933, to Helen Stokes Gibson and John Ratliff (Rat) Gibson in Center Point, Ark. He graduated from Dierks High School in 1954 and University of Arkansas in 1963. FD spent 4 years in the US Navy and then enlisted for 4 years in the US Air Force.
He spent most of his working years as a poultry and cattle farmer in Dierks, Ark. F D was an active part of the Howard County community over the years, serving multiple terms as a justice of the peace on the quorum court, a member of the Soil Conservation and Farm Bureau boards and member of the Dierks United Methodist Church.
F D enjoyed life, especially golfing, wood working, riding his three-wheel motorcycle and spending his retirement winters in Florida with Charlotte, his wife of 65 years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Lovell Gibson, son Gregory F Gibson, daughter Gretchen Gibson Castleman, sister Sue Gibson Faulkner, son-in-law Mark A Castleman and granddaughters Lora and Kate Castleman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 1, 2024, 1 p.m. at the Dierks United Methodist Church.
A time for visitation with the family will be held immediately afterwards at the church as well. A private family graveside service will be conducted after the memorial service and visitation.
