Nashville senior Tre Hopkins was named Most Valuable Player for the 2023 Scrappers at the conclusion of the annual Rotary Club Football Banquet Saturday night, Jan. 27, in the Nashville High School Cafeteria.

Hopkins also received MVP honors during his sophomore season.

The award capped a night of honors for the Scrappers, who finished the season 8-4 and advanced to the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

Hopkins, Kaleb Halter and Kason Willard were named Permanent Team Captains.

Other awards included the following:

Hopkins – AAA All-State, 7-4A All-State, Outstanding Offensive Back

Willard – AAA All-State, 7-4A All-State, Outstanding Offensive Lineman

Zaccheus Harris – AAA All-State, 7-4A All-State, Outstanding Defensive Lineman, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas

Richie Wiley – 7-4A All-State

Fernando Perez – 7-4A All-State

Ja’Marion Conway – 7-4A All-State

Makhi Johnson – First Team 7-4A

Kahleel Canady – Second Team 7-4A

Remington Miller – 7-4A All-State

Kasen Morgan – 7-4A All_State, Outstanding Receiver

Tyler Brown – 7-4A All-State, Co-Outstanding Special Teams

Alexis Brizo – Second Team 7-4A, Co-Outstanding Special Teams

Kaleb Halter – 7-4A All-State, Outstanding Linebacker.

Tucker Dixon – 7-4A All-State

Omari Benson – 7-4A All-State

Skyler Gibson – 7-4A All-State, Outstanding Defensive Back

Coaches introduced their players and presented awards.

Scrapper cheerleaders were recognized at the banquet. They were the Class 4A state runners-up and finished ninth at national competition in Dallas, where they received the Superior Showmanship Award.

Members of the Homecoming royalty were introduced, including Queen Abby Furr, Maid of Honor Reese Worthington, maids Olivia Dean, Macy McCammack, Marisol Villalobos, Aubrey Carver, Lily Meraz, Yeyli Pizarro, Nancy Worthington, Natalia Betancourt, Addie Moorer and Adelene Westfall.

Scrap Media students prepared a season highlight video which was shown during the banquet.
