Richard Dane Schwope, age 82 of Nashville, Ark., passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 in Hot Springs, Ark.

He was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Hondo, Texas, the son of the late Richard Charles Schwope and Pauline Schmidt Schwope.

Richard was an honest and simple man who lived his life by the golden rule, always being kind and generous to others. After serving in the army, Richard returned home to enjoy his family, raise cattle, and become a master of carpentry. Many houses built by his hands are homes to folks in the area.

Richard enjoyed hunting, especially with his nephews. He enjoyed hosting Christmas for his family each year and loved to sit around the table to chat and laugh. He was a lover of all things sweet but added balance with his love of Diet Pepsi.

Richard, although never married with a family of his own, spent as much time as he could with his nieces and nephews as well as his brothers and sisters. The love he had for his family was a precious gift that can never be replaced. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The night preceding his passing the doctor told him he would need to cut back on his Diet Pepsi habit and we all truly believe this is when he knew he would rather walk into those heavenly gates than cut back on those.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lana Young; one brother, Raymond Schwope; and one niece, Paula Schwope.

Left to cherish his memory and legacy are two brothers Ronnie Schwope and wife Dawanda, and Robert Schwope; two sisters Crystal Schwope, Diane Reeves and husband Scott, all of Nashville, Ark.; as well as number of nieces, nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at Corinth Cemetery, with Randy Bradford officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Pallbearers will be Vince Cook, Nick Reeves, Keller Reeves, Randy Bradford, David Schwope, Hunter Green, Neil Reeves, and Brandon Schwope.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy McJunkins, Bob Terwilliger, and Richard Curry.
