Mr. Jimmy Hurston Lloyd, age 82, a resident of Dierks, Ark., passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 in Dierks Health and Rehab.
He was born March 30, 1941, in Monticello, Ark. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser, where he was a supervisor. He worked for Kirby and Kirby after retirement. He was a member of the Dierks Church of Christ, where he was a former bible class teacher, an active member in the church. He loved hunting deer, turkey, and quail over the years. He was a longtime member of the Reid-Howard Hunting Club. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, reading westerns, watching sports, especially Razorbacks, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grands and great-grands.
Mr. Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lucille Ozment Lloyd, whom he married in 1958; his daughter, Lorrie Ann Morris; his parents, Willie Hurston Lloyd and Ella Myrtle McKiever Lloyd; his foster parents Norwood and Carrie Courson Hill; his siblings, Robert “Mac” Reynolds, Billy Reynolds, William Hill, Winda Hill Laskey, and Linda Hill Harville, also, longtime family friends, Floyce and Ruth Howard, and their children; Thomas Howard, Danny Howard, Ronnie Howard, and JoAnn Walters.
He is survived by: his son, Ricky Lloyd and wife, Kim of Dierks, Ark.; his daughter, Michelle Ward and husband, Doug of Newhope, Ark.; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Jackson of Dierks, Chance Morris (Megan) of Apex, N.C., Cody Lloyd of Texarkana, Texas, Brittney Davis (Bobby) of Langley, Ark., Emily Robins (Josh) of Nashville, Ark., and Jacob Lloyd of Dierks; his great-grandchildren, Rylee and Jett Jackson, Everly and Barret Morris, Adi, Bryar, Enzlea, and Ridge Davis, Blake and Emmy Robins, and Collin Lloyd; a special niece, DeeDee Harville Smith of Hamburg, Ark.; and special family friends Richard Howard of Nashville, Ark., and Mike Moore of Dierks, Ark.; and a host of family and friends; and his long time loyal companion, his dog, Bear.
Funeral services for Mr. Lloyd will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at Dierks Church of Christ with Wes Howard and Michael Howard and Terry Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Dierks Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the church.
