James Wallace Reese of Star City, Ark. passed away peacefully on Dec. 8, 2023.  Mr. Reese was born on Feb. 1, 1935 to Davy Cutis Reese and Birtie Reese of Nashville.  Mr. Reese was a 1955 graduate of Nashville High School and was an avid Nashville Scrapper Football Fan.  Mr. Reese also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and both the Arkansas Razorback Football and Basketball teams.

Mr. Reese worked in the peach orchards in Nashville, Mr. Carl Frill’s Department Store, was a salesman for Standard Coffee Company, a salesman for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and was the owner of Reese Appliance and Furniture Store.  

Mr. Reese married Shelba Ann Olive on July 10, 1959.

Mr. Reese was happiest on his farm raising cattle, putting up hay, working on fences and was an active member of the Lincoln County Cattleman’s Association.

Mr. Reese was proceeded in death by his parents; Davy C. and Birtie Reese; a brother, Davy DuLaney Reese; a sister Clarene Jaggers and his wife of 39 years, Shelba Ann Olive Reese.

Mr. Reese is survived by a brother, Bill (Shirley) Reese of Harrison, Ar, three daughters; Kim (Frank) Weeks of Sheridan, Ark.; Beverly Long of Benton, Ark.; and Kathy Reese of Pine Bluff, AR; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren with two on the way and seven great – great grandchildren; 2 nieces; Judi (Bradley) Armstead of Bee Branch, Ark.; Sandra Kay Berry of Harrison, Ark.; and 1 nephew Jimmy Joe (Teri) Olive of Yuma, Ariz.

The family would like to thank Mr. Reese’s caregiver, Mattie Craig, for her love and support of our father as well as the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice.

Honorary pallbearers are: Russel Altom, Scott Patillo, Dale Dixon, Johnny Henley, Danny Cupp, Robert Hankins, Ronald Collins and Vince Stone.

Funeral arrangement prepared by Fuller Hale South Funeral Home located at 1601 S Cherry Street in Pine Bluff, Ark.; Visitation is December 14th, 2023 at 1pm with the funeral directly following at 2pm. 

No graveside service will be held.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Pine Bluff First Assembly of God Playground Fund located at 1002 Ridgway Road in honor and memory of James and Ann Reese.
