Veterans Day events planned in Nashville, Dierks

The end of World War I — formerly known as Armistice Day — was celebrated “At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the month.”

The celebration on Nov. 11 is now known as Veterans Day, a day to honor all veterans of America’s armed forces.

This year the 11th falls on Saturday so at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, Howard County will honor its veterans in a ceremony at the monument on the courthouse lawn in Nashville. Veterans and supporters are invited to attend.

Veterans are also invited to a breakfast at the Nashville campus of UA-Cossatot on Friday, Nov. 10. The event will begin at 8:30. In addition to the breakfast there will be a few speakers and the Presentation of Colors.

The Dierks School District will hots A Salute to Veterans on Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. in the high school gymnasium.

All members of the military – past and present – are cordially invited to attend. Lunch will be servied
