Dorothy Evelyn Capps, 94, of Tulsa, Okla., died Oct. 26, 2023, in Tulsa.
She was born March 19, 1929, in Nashville, Ark., the daughter of the late William and Florence Copeland.
She was a 1948 graduate of Nashville High School and was attending Capital City Business College when she was called back to Nashville to help care for an ill older sister. Here, she worked a librarian and drove the ‘Bookmobile.’ She met her future husband, Claude Capps at church in 1954. They followed his work on oil and gas pipelines, and finally settled permanently in Tulsa where she worked for Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Ettie, and brothers M.J. and William Paul Copeland.
Survivors include: her daughters, Judy Esparza and husband Ignacio of California, Becky Boyle of Arizona, Debbie Heath and husband David of Tulsa, Okla., and Susie Fields, also of Tulsa; grandchildren Johnny, Mandi, Josh, Scott, Travis, Angie, Becca, Elizabeth Chris and Amanda and their spouses and children; sisters Ruthie Barnes and Deronda Godfrey, and a brother, Wayne Copeland, all of Nashville.
There was a celebration of life graveside service Nov. 1, 2023, at Veterans’ Field of Honor, Broken Arrow, Okla., with Stan McCabe as officiant.
