MURFREESBORO — The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce and Husqvarna invite local runners to join them at the Diamond Jingle 5K Color Run and Hometown Christmas event on Dec. 2.

The 5K is powered by Husqvarna and proceeds will go the Angel Tree program to help sponsor gifts in the Delight and Murfreesboro areas.

The Angel Tree program is a non-profit organization that collects monetary or physical gifts purchased by individuals who have adopted an angel from the tree. The gifts are then given to needy children in the area who may not otherwise have gifts at Christmas. Gifts the children request are often items that most of us take for granted, such as socks, pajamas, shoes, and jackets, in addition to toys.

Participants may sign up at Runsignup.com, where the fee is $25. The price of registration will increase to $30 after Nov. 20. Each participant that registers before Nov. 20 will be guaranteed an impressive “Diamond Jingle 5K Color Run” shirt and a participation medal. There will also be placement medals awarded in age based categories.

If you would to volunteer to help with the 5K, or have questions regarding sign up, please contact Shawna Kennedy (Kennedysdg@yahoo.com) or Lisa Harvill (Lisa@Harvillandassociates.com) or call (870) 285-0161.

For those that would be interested in becoming a sponsor or donating to the cause, then contact the afore mentioned pair for a sponsorship forms.
