Miles Kelly Mitchell, 69, of Nashville, Arkansas passed away at his home on October 16, 2023 and entered Heaven. Miles was born January 31, 1954 at Carlisle, AR to Blanche Burns and Turner Mitchell.  Miles owned Dox Sports Shop for 10 years after being employed there.  Miles was a former high school basketball coach at Oden, AR.  He was employed at Nashville Parks and Recreation until his retirement in 2016.

Miles helped form the Nashville Baseball Association soon after moving to Nashville in 1984. He served as President for many years. His passion was getting as many youth involved in baseball as possible; coaching, organizing and officiating baseball and basketball for countless kids.  

He was a member of the Arkansas Officials Association for High School Officials, officiating High School games for over 32 years.   Miles served on the Nashville Public School’s Board of Education for over 25 years.  Miles served as Arkansas State Director for Dixie Baseball Boys and Majors for many years, organizing teams and tournaments.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and Deacon.

Miles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy Mitchell.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol Mitchell, two daughters, Kelli and John Morton III of Bismark and Anne and Chuck Reel of Dierks, 2 sisters Clara Mae (Junior) Harlan of North Little Rock, Carla (Charles) Barnwell of Beebe, 4 brothers, William (Susie) Mitchell of Cabot, Vernon Bob (Linda) of Carlisle, Ronald Lynn (Lori) Mitchell of Mabelvale, Jerald (Pam) Mitchell of Ward, 2 grandsons Kadon Miles Morton and Colton John Morton and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville with Bro. Glen Green and Bro. Paul Herndon officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
