Clara “Fern” Barentine, 87, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023.
She was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Daisy, the daughter of the late Malachi Simmons and Silla Lavada Golden Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Barentine, and two brothers, Gerald “Tut” Simmons and Glen D. Simmons.
Survivors include: two daughters, Tina Stephens of Dierks, and Tracy Merrill and husband, Richard, of Glenwood; sisters, Pansy “Pat” Logan of Mena and Wanda Simmons of Dierks; also grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, in the Mount Joy Cemetery with Bro. Raymond Dees officiating.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13 in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood.
