Charlsie Standley, age 90, of Glenwood, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

She was born on July 27, 1932, in Glenwood, the daughter of Joe Presley Smith and LoRetta Tidwell Smith. On May 23, 1953, she was married to Johnny Thomas Standley who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2010.  he was also preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert Lee and Celia Ann Wright Standley; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Alice Smith, Everette and Adell Smith, Paul and Fern Smith and J.P. Smith; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Celia and Curt Massey, Erma and Roy Jester, Iva and Myrkle Forga, Viva and Cloy Jester, Virginia and Clint Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

Charlsie was a dedicated preacher’s wife, always faithfully working alongside her husband, Bro. Johnny, as he pastored several Missionary Baptist Churches. She loved teaching Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School, and taking children to church camp. Charlsie was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

She enjoyed being outside, spending time in the sunshine and working in her flower gardens.

Above all, Charlsie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, who loved her family with all her heart. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and taking care of them. Charlsie lived her entire life as the true meaning of the scriptures in the Bible in Proverbs 31, the Virtuous Woman. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but she has left her family with many cherished memories to carry in their hearts forever.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Max Watts of Kirby and Robbie and Randy Keen of Sheridan; her three grandsons and their wives, Jeremy and Tabitha Keen, Luke and Kortney Keen and Joseph and Shelby Keen; her eight great-grandchildren, Asa, Caleb, Lorelai, Harper, Sadie Pearl, Lydia, Ava and Paisley Keen; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Standley; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, in the Mount Tabor Community Building with Bro. Kyle Cowart and Bro. Robert Standley officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 6-8 p.m. in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.

Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Ray Short, Tracy Parker, Whit Smith, Jeremy Keen, Luke Keen and Joseph Keen.
