Charles Eugene “Gene” Childress, 88, of Hope died Wednesday, May 17.
He was born in Mineral Springs Feb. 20, 1935. He spent 38 years with USDA, and was a member and deacon of Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in Hope.
Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Barbara Childress; a brother, Leslie Childress; three children, Laurel McCarter (Mike), Randy Childress (Kate), and Gary Childress (Patti); also grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday, May 19, at Brazzel Oakcrest Funeral Home.
A graveside service was held Saturday, May 20, at Shiloh Cemetery near Mineral Springs.
