The Dierks School Board met in special session on March 29 and hired a new head girls’ basketball coach, but the new hire has since backed out.
During last week’s meeting following a two-hour closed executive session, the board unanimously voted to hire James Halitzka, currently coaching at Bergman High School, as well as his wife, Tammera, as an elementary teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.
On Friday, March 31, Superintendent Grover Hill reported the Halitzkas had decided not to come to Dierks.
