Vivian Fay Green Slaton was born June 5th, 1950 in Aransas Pass, Texas, to Albert and Fay Brunson Green. She passed from this life on March 25th, 2023 at the age of 72 years. Vivian was a Christian and member of the Lord’s Church as referenced in Matthew 16:18. She worshiped as a member of the Church of Christ in Lockesburg.

Vivian moved to Provo, Ark., in her 8th grade year and began to attend Lockesburg High School, where she met her “Love,” Dudley. The “rest is history” as they say.

Vivian loved life and people. She is most known for her kind, caring, loving, and selfless spirit she shared with everyone around her. She truly exemplified the Virtuous Woman mentioned in Proverbs 31 and the Christ-like life to all she came into contact with.

Vivian enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. She loved her many plants and flowers. She loved to make her home a place for all to feel “at home.” She and Dudley, along with their kids and grandkids, enjoyed many camping trips to see this great country. Over the years, she and Dudley were able to visit every state except Wisconsin and Hawaii, including a round trip total of over 14,000 miles to the Arctic Ocean, driving to Key West, Fla., seeing Canada, Mexico, and all the places in between. Vivian loved the beach and enjoyed many hours of beachcombing with numerous treasures found.

Vivian raised cattle and kids while Dudley worked for Weyerhaeuser. Later on, Vivian and Dudley worked together side by side for many years. They raised a total of over a quarter of a million parakeets over the course of 30 years. They raised guinea pigs as well. She had her own guinea pig house and could outraise Dudley any day of the week. They founded Pet World in Nashville, Ark., and served the Nashville area for many years.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Albert Green, brother-in-law, Robert Runnels, and nephew, Kelly Green. She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband, Dudley Slaton; her children, Lisa Coulter and husband Mike, Dudley Ray Slaton and wife Gena all of Lockesburg, Ark., Carrie Slaton and husband Ben Ball of Magnolia, Ark.; her grandchildren, Jacob Slaton and wife Sarah of Lockesburg, Ark., Lindsay Meador and husband Heath of Booneville, Ark., and Kate Slaton-Bunner of Magnolia, Ark.; great grandchildren, Case Slaton and soon to be born Jameson Meador; her beloved sisters, Susan Lewis and husband Larry of Texarkana, Texas, Kim Runnels of De Queen, Ark., and special sister-in-law Frankie Slaton of Lockesburg, Ark. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a whole host of friends, too many to name. All who knew Vivian, were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Sunset Church of Christ in Nashville, with Danny White and Dr. Glenn Lance officiating. Burial will follow in Coulter Memorial Garden in Lockesburg, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church at 1:00 p.m., Thursday before the service.
