James Franklin Schooley, age 63, of Columbus, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, in Columbus. He was born on Oct. 7, 1959, in the Bluff Springs community near Mineral Springs to the late James Alvin “Sonny” Schooley and Marjorie Jones Schooley.
James loved to work with his hands. He enjoyed working on old trucks and was a carpenter. He could build anything and had a tool for everything. He was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather. He never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece Alexis Schooley and nephew Zechariah Melson.
Survivors include: his two daughters, Kimberly Schooley and Jennifer Schooley; four sisters, Judith Hood, Josie Thomas and husband Zane, Janet Bolender and husband Ken, and Diane Pittman; six grandchildren including Caitlyn Gummeson, Hayden Tyree, Braden Schooley, Jadyn Schooley, Cameron Fields and Madison Fields; great-grandchild Braylen Schooley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at Columbus Baptist Church in Columbus. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
