The new president of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce looks forward to a year of community service along with traditional events of the chamber.
Michelle Boone, nurse practitioner, is owner of Compassion Health & Wellness Clinic in Nashville and co-owner of Impact Counseling Clinic in Dierks.
The mother of four and grandmother of one has been active in the chamber, served as president of the Nashville chapter of Junior Auxiliary and is also serving as secretary of the Arkansas Nurse Practitioner’s Association.
Her mother, Diane Barger, served as president of the De Queen Chamber of Commerce before her retirement from Pilgrim’s. She lived in Nashville; worked in De Queen.
The new president of the Nashville chamber says: ”This community has helped shape my life, and I want to give back.”
She looks forward to such chamber events as its Feb. 20 awards banquet and summer’s Stand Up for America. “We may also bring back some events from the past.”
Ten women have served as chamber president, breaking the all-male tradition in 1997.
Although the chamber was organized here in 1921, there were apparently some years in which it was inactive. Photos of past presidents line a wall in the back room of the chamber’s office on Main Street.
