Nashville man dies after Hempstead County wreck

A Nashville man died in a Little Rock hospital the morning of Thursday, Dec. 29 after being involved in a two-vehicle wreck in Hope, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Robert Chism, 59, succumbed to his injuries he received in the accident, which was reported around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Highway 278 and west of Highway 32 in Hempstead County.

According to the ASP preliminary report, Chism was traveling east in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado when he crossed the center line and collided with a 2008 Ford F250 driven by Jerry Hillery, 70, of Prescott.

The conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident.

Both drivers were injured and were transported to a Texarkana hospital. Chism was later transferred to a Little Rock hospital were he died from his injuries.
