Jessie R. Simmons went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017.
He was born June 1, 1921 to Paul Holbert and Emmer Carter Simmons. He married Norma Sue Boyd on Jan. 6, 1946.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, worked for Weyerhaeuser for 32 years and was a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Norma Sue Simmons; a grandson, Timothy Allen Sharp; his parents; two brothers and a sister.
He is survived by: one son, Jessie “Sonny” Simmons of Glenwood, Ark.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Sue and Ronnie Archer of Lockesburg, Ark., and Hilda Dean of Nashville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside funeral services with military rites were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, in Burg Cemetery with Robert Peek and Jerry Mounts officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, AR.
