Robert Eugene “Bob” Blake, age 77, of Amity, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home.
He was born on June 6, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the youngest child of Frances Coyd Blake and Bessie Belle McCalip Blake. On November 5, 1960, he was married to Betty Blake who preceded him in death on May 3, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Born in Oklahoma, Bob was raised in South Carolina and moved to Arkansas in the 1950’s where he would meet his wife. He served nine years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A welder by trade, Bob lived in Houston, Texas for many years before returning to his beloved Arkansas in 1986. Bob was a member of the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church where he loved seeing his church family several times a week. He also enjoyed the singings at Alpine, fishing, hunting, tending to his garden and, of course, his blueberries.
Bob is survived by six children and their spouses, Danny and Connie Blake, Mark and Marsha Blake, all of Dayton, Texas, Sammy and Melanie Blake of Nashville, Tennessee, Paula Blake and Teresa Blake, both of Amity and Barbara Brewer of Mobile, Alabama; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 28, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Kevin Jewell officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in County Line Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice for all of their special care this past year and the members of Daisy Free Will Baptist Church for their visits, calls, cards and especially prayers.
