Max D. Chown, age 69, of Mount Ida, AR, passed away September 17, 2017. He was born February 8, 1948 to the late Bob and Doris Chown in Muscatine, Iowa. Max is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Doris Chown, brother, Bobby Chown, and grandson, Hunter Chown.
Survivors include: wife, Jane Chown, children, Tami Streinz (Jesse) of West Branch, IA, Todd Chown (Nancy) of West Liberty, IA, and Chris Holway (Diana) of North Liberty, IA. Grandchildren, Cole Chown of West Liberty, IA, Gavin Chown of West Liberty, IA, Nate Chown of West Liberty, IA, Morgan
Dragovich of West Branch, IA, and Jack Dragovich of West Branch, IA, sisters, Karen “Kay” Cline (Bill) of West Liberty, IA, brothers, Fred L. “Pete” Chown (Judy) of Farmington, MN, James Chown(Bonnie) of Crivetz, WI, Dana L. Chown (Julie) of Lone Tree, IA and Jon Kevan Chown (Mary) of Mount Ida, AR.
Everyone who loved Max knew his love for fishing and hunting, and how he carried on his Chown’s Appliance experience here, even after he retired. He loved his Joplin Trailer Park and all his “Tenants”, and entertaining during happy hour in the fish house. He was especially a warrior against cancer, even through the battle he continued to entertain, and make sure everyone had what they needed. He got up each day to prove to everyone he could and to stay with those he loved in this world.
A family and friend gathering will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, 3-5 p.m. at the Joplin Methodist Church, 51 Mountain Harbor Rd. Mount Ida, AR 71957. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR.
