Dexter Dean Scantling, 86, of Booneville, Arkansas died May 30, 2017. He was born May 24, 1931 in Monroe, Oklahoma the son of Ivey Floyd and Sarah Francis (Buccahan) Scantling. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church; the owner and operator of Scantling Well Drilling; and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing and cattle farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivey Floyd and Sarah Francis Scantling; one daughter, Dena Scantling; three brothers, Floyd and L.D. Scantling, and Harley Harmon; one sister, Gladys Scantling; his first wife, of 42 years, Dorothy Tabor.

Survivors include his wife, of twenty-four years, Lillie (DeZarn) Scantling; two daughters, Rhonda Cousins of Hot Springs and Amie Franco and husband, Mario of Fayetteville; one brother, Herb Scantling of Caddo Gap; and five grandchildren, Cheyenne Barber, Shaun Barber, Joy Rentz, Kelsey Riley and Elizabeth Wright; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Richard Helton, Dakota Couch, Mario Franco, Kieffer Shelton, Triston Phipps and Jay Cooper.

Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Brewer, Charles Rogers, Gene Brigance, Billy Corbitt and Steve Love.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the funeral home in Booneville.

Funeral service were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Booneville Funeral Service Chapel.

Burial service was at 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Hot Springs.
