The Nashville Scrappers and Scrapperettes opened the home season at Scrapper Arena Dec. 6 with wins over Caddo Hills.
With the girls game tied at 60-60, Scrapperette Madi Miller hit two free throws with less than 5 seconds remaining to put Nashville on top 62-60. Miller than intercepted the Caddo Hills inbound attempt to seal the win.
The Scrappers won their season opener over Caddo Hills 64-37.
Both teams took blended conference wins at Horatio Friday night. The Scrapperettes defeated the Lady Lions 71-44, while the Scrappers posted a 60-33 win.
Nashville competes with Cossatot River, Ashdown, Fouke, Genoa, Prescott, Horatio and Mena in the blended portion of the schedule. The teams will also play Robinson, Mena and Ashdown in the West Division of District 7-4A under the Arkansas Activities Association’s redistricting plan for basketball and spring sports.
The Scrapperettes are 4-1 on the season. They opened at the Ouachita Baptist University tournament in November, finishing third with a 2-1 record. They posted two wins last week.
The Scrappers are 2-0 after defeating Caddo and Horatio.
Both teams will be at Scrapper Arena Thursday, Dec. 15, to take on Prescott. There will be a junior boys game at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Scrapperettes and Scrappers.
Nashville will host Cossatot River Dec. 20 in the final games before the Christmas break. A junior girls game is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by the senior high teams.
The Scrappers and Scrapperettes will be back at Scrapper Arena Jan. 6 to host Genoa.
