The highly anticipated re-opening of the Ouachita Artists Gallery has finally arrived after damage during a summer rain storm forced the closure of the gallery almost four months ago.
A storm which blew through the area in July did extensive damage to the roof of the gallery. As a result the rain poured into the gallery destroying several ceiling tiles and threatened to destroy several pieces of art in storage and on display. A subsequent rain exacerbated the problem with more water damage inside the building.
Being a close knit group, gallery members rallied in a fundraiser to help cover the cost of repairs to the building. A new roof provided the necessary protection from future rainstorms and a new ceiling and floor has provided a much needed update within the gallery.
The new look in the gallery will be officially revealed to the public during their grand re-opening this Sunday from 1-3 p.m.
Refreshments will be available to enjoy as you get a first look at the newly remodeled gallery and art.
The gallery will be filled with unique items which would make great gifts for the upcoming holidays.
The gallery will also draw the name of the winner of the Christmas tree they have been selling raffle tickets for.
The gallery is located at 135 West Street in Mount Ida. Their hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information please contact them at (870) 867-3115, or check out their website at www.ouachitaartists.org.
