Obituary: Wanda Horn McRae; Caddo Gap

Wanda Horn McRae, age 84, of Caddo Gap, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016.

She was born on July 11, 1932, in Caddo Gap, the daughter of Ottis Horn and Lula Mae Robbins Horn. On July 12, 1950, she was married to Bob McRae who preceded her in death on October 29, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Calvin Horn; and her in-laws, Clifford and Era McRae.

Wanda was a Baptist in her faith. She was secretary for Horn Lumber Company for 28 years and raised cattle alongside her husband, Bob. She was the first lady to serve on the Montgomery County Quorum Court and served as Justice of the Peace for 10 years. She was appointed to serve on the board of the Arkansas State Health Department for 7 years and served as the first lady president on that board. She also served as president of the Norman PTA for several years. Wanda was a friend to many and loved by all.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debby and Tim Bean of Caddo Gap; her son and daughter-in-law, Denver and Janice McRae of Camp Albert Pike; her sisters, Sharon Horn Shields of Glenwood and Shirley Horn of Norman; her grandchildren and their spouses, Robyn and Phil Hartsfield, John McRae, Maryann and Clint Naney, Deann and Jason Grintz, Jamie Koonce, Justin Bean, Nikita Allen and Kinzie Vaughn; her great-grandchildren, Haylee Barnett, Ki Hartsfield, Allee Hartsfield, Garrett Grintz, Sam Grintz, Lane Naney and Cole Naney; and her great-great-grandchild, Tayton Barnett; her precious niece, Angela Duke of Glenwood; her nephew, Nick Flower of Glenwood; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2016, in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Harold Turner officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, the nurses and staff of Home Health, Dr. Kevin Hale, Dr. Matt Hulsey, Louise Ponder, Charlie Caldwell, Ted Elder, Tisha Hearn, L. J. Warneke, Ted Abernathy, Bill Morphew, Gene White, Darren Bardwell, Sissy Nooner and her special friends, Curt and Jane Bean.
