ODEN – Caddo Hills and Oden opened the 2016-17 basketball season off with a full slate of games last Tuesday with the Indians earning victories in each of the match ups.
The junior girls started things off with the Junior Lady Indians earning a 43-14 victory over Oden.
Caddo jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the first period and entered halftime with a 25-5 lead.
The Junior Lady Indians opened the second half with a 16-2 run. Oden was able to finish the game strong thanks to a 7-2 run in the fourth.
Jacie Vines led the Junior Lady Indians with 13 points, followed by Liz Ruiz with seven, Nallely Lopez with six and Taylor Allen with five. Peyton Powell and Delaney Jackson scored four each and Gracie Davis and Capri Fogle each scored two.
Allie Strother led the Junior Lady Timberwolves with seven points. Judy Cook, Jacy Blansett, and Dehlma Carr each scored two and Kyra Armstrong scored one.
Ben McBryde got his first Caddo Hills victory as the Junior Indians rolled past the Junior Timberwolves 54-18. Caddo opened up with a 20-0 lead in the first and closed out the first half with a 32-6 lead. Oden was able to outscore Caddo 8-7 in the third, but the Junior Indians wrapped things up with an 11-4 run in the fourth.
Nine different Junior Indians scored with Connor Kincannon leading the team with 17. Levi Sherman scored seven and Kaleb West scored five. Jarrett Runyan, Terrell Macon and Matt Turner each scored four. Gage Galloway scored three and Rayce Young and Samuel Bell each scored two.
Zach Mayo led the Junior Timberwolves with 11 points, followed by Ethan Mayo with seven.
The Lady Indians 57-21 victory was truly a team effort with all but one player scoring in the game.
Caddo jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first and ended the half with a 20-5 run. Oden was able to keep pace with the Lady Indians in the third with Caddo outscoring them 15-14. The Lady Timberwolves ended the game with a 9-7 run.
Abby West led the Lady Indians with 19 points followed closely by Rachel Dumont with 17. Lilli Hunt scored nine and Scarlett Beggs scored six. Jessica Martin, Alex Jackson and Abby Loudermilk each scored two.
Kandy Simmons led the Oden with 10 points, followed by Shawna Van Horn with 8 and Sheana Van Horn with six. Alli Hughes and Sidney Philpot each scored two and Katie Cox scored one.
Oden looked as if they might salvage a win in the senior boys game, but Caddo Hills was able to escape with a 36-19 victory.
The Timberwolves eked out a 4-3 lead in the first period, but Caddo claimed the lead in the second period with a 5-0 run. The Indians outscored Oden 17-6 in the third and 11-9 in the fourth to secure the win.
Jasper Whisenhunt led the Indians with 17 points, followed by Peyton Emory with six and Colton Cowart with five. Jared McKellar and Justus Bobo each scored three and Aerik Jacobs scored two.
