The Caddo Hills Cross Country team ruled the roost Saturday with Jordan Foster and Abby West winning the men’s and women’s categories respectively in 2016 Montgomery County 4-H Color Splash 5K and Kids Dash.
Jordan Foster turned in a blistering time of 19:34 to win the 5K with Tyler Wingfield of Mount Ida finishing a close second with a time of 19:43. Foster’s time was just shy of last year’s winning time of 19:20 turned in by Caddo Hills alum Junior Gonzalez.
The next four positions went to Caddo Hills team members with David Gonzalez (20:07), Charles Ingram (23:07), Stone Crawford (24:08) and Kaleb West (24:15) finishing 3rd – 6th place respectively. Gonzalez bested his time from last year by over one minute.
Abby West finished seventh place overall and turned in the best time in the women’s division with a time of 24:42.
Mount Ida students took the next three places with Trey Standridge (24:51) and Seth Standridge (25:30) finishing 8th and 9th place. Natalie Hughbanks of Mount Ida rounded out the top 10 with a time of 26:33, good enough for second place in the women’s division.
There were 65 participants who turned in times in the 5K.
The Color Splash 5K was preceded by the Kids Dash which gave area youngsters a chance to run around a couple blocks for charity.
The Color Splash 5K and Kids Dash is one of two fundraisers the Montgomery County 4-H Clubs to each year.
