Netters compete at Malvern, Baptist Prep

Scrapper and Scrapperette doubles teams visit Coach Damon Williams Monday afternoon after competing against Central Arkansas Christian in North Little Rock. The teams include (front row) Leslie Lingo, Kendall Kirchoff, Olivia Herzog, McKenzie Morphew, and Williams; (back row) Eli Howard, Glenn Hartness, Zach Backus, and Caleb Newton. Kirchoff and Herzog will be the top-seeded girls team going into the District 7-4A tournament Oct. 3 at Ouachita Baptist University. They were undefeated during regular season doubles play in district. The tournament schedule will be announced.

The Scrapperette and Scrapper tennis teams competed against two conference opponents on the road last week.

The Scrapperettes defeated Baptist Prep 2-0 and Malvern 4-2.

Both wins over Baptist Prep came in doubles play at Rebsamen Park.

Olivia Herzog and Kendall Kirchhoff defeated Elizabeth Baley and Mallory Campbell 6-0.

McKenzie Morphew and Leslie Lingo also defeated Baxley and Campbell 6-0.

In singles against Malvern, Maddie Pinkerton def. Erica Clegg 7-6. Amber Barnett lost to Annabel Harper 1-6.

In doubles, Herzog and Kirchhoff defeated Alex Lindsey and Alayna Fields 7-5. Morphew and LIngo def. Jacoya Hodges and Leslie Paul 6-0.

Kirchhoff and Herzog def. Hodges and Paul 6-0.

Morphew and Lingo lost to Lindsey and Fields 4-6.

The Scrappers defeated Malvern 3-1 and tied Baptist Prep 3-3.

In singles against Malvern, Eli Howard defeated Gerry Purifoy 6-3.

In doubles against the Leopards, Glen Hartness and Zach Backus def. Garrett Mayborn and Brandon Scott 6-3.

Caleb Newton and Zack Williams def. Kaden Pack and Carson Massey 6-0.

Newton and Williams lost to Mayborn and Scott 3-6.

In singles against Baptist, Hartness lost to Seth Hernandez 1-8.

Backus def. Brett Kerndol 8-3. Williams def. Dawson Bixby 8-1.

Howard def. John Gaston 6-0.

Newton lost to Heath Anderson 3-8.

In doubles, Hartness and Backus lost to Hernandez and Kerndol 2-8. Newton and Howard lost to Frankmister and Roberson 1-8.
