
FOUNTAIN LAKE – The Nashville Scrapperettes and the Nashville Scrappers opened the tennis season with wins over Fountain Lake Monday afternoon.
The Scrapperettes were 9-0 against the Lady Cobras, while the Scrappers went 7-4.
Nashville was 3-0 in girls doubles. Kendall Kirchhoff and Olivia Herzog defeated Amie Westerman 6-1. McKenzie Morphew and Leslie Lingo defeated Westerman and Kristen Brown 6-0, and Kirchhoff and Lingo defeated Brown and Sydney Thistlewait 6-0.
The Scrapperettes were 6-0 in singles. Results included the following: Amber Barnette def. Kaitlyn Bledsoe 6-3, Maddie Pinkerton def. Brown 6-0, Herzog def. Hannah Ross 6-1, Morphew def. Westerman 6-4; Herzog def. Victoria Pike 6-3 and Pinkerton def. Bledsoe 7-5.
Nashville was 3-0 in boys doubles. Zack Backus and Glenn Hartness def. Ethan Westerman and Zakiry Butler 6-0. Caleb Newton and Eli Howard def. Jackson Keese and Cooper Keese 6-1, and Newton and Howard defeated John Gaston and Adam Francowski 6-1.
Nashville was 4-4 in boys doubles. Zack Williaams lost to Hayden Beckwith 3-6. Glen Hartness def. Mark Knappler 6-0 and lost to Seth Hernandez 0-6. Williams lost to Heath Anderson 2-6. Newton def. Riley Fields 6-0; Backus def. Beckwith 6-1; Williams lost to Westerman 2-6 and Backus def. Knappler 6-4.
Nashville will visit Texarkana Aug. 29 and Arkadelphia Aug. 30.
