Montgomery County Fair kicks off Saturday with parade

The Montgomery County Fair kicks off Saturday with the annual fair parade and continues throughout the week with a huge variety of entertaining events for everyone.
The Parade will be held Saturday, August 13, at 5 p.m.
Participants will line up at the high school parking lot. Any organization or individual may enter a float. Bicyclists are encouraged to decorate their bikes and ride in the parade. Horseback riders are also encouraged to ride in the parade.
The parade will make its way through the courthouse square before circling back around to the school.
Interviews for the fair pageant will be held at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds with swimsuit and sportswear competitions to follow.
The fair will include the fair pageant Monday and Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Categories for 7-21 year old contestants will be held Monday and 0-6 years old Tuesday. The talent show will be held Monday night following the pageant.
It wouldn’t be a fair without exhibits. All exhibits  horticulture, flowers and baked goods must be entered from 9 a..m. to 6 p.m. in the exhibit buildings on Tuesday. Livestock will check in from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday
All baked goods and horticulture and flowers must be checked in Wednesday from 8-10 a.m. Judging will take place at 10 a.m. The exhibit buildings will be open from 3-8 p.m.
The annual Kids Day events will kick off at 4 p.m. They will also host their first power wheel derby for kids ages 3-10 years old.
Thursday will offer something for everyone. The exhibit buildings will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Senior Citizen Bingo returns after a long hiatus. It will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome. There will be live music with Caddo Cowboys playing at 7 p.m.
Hammertime Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7:30 p.m.
Marriott Amusements will furnish a carnival with the Midway open most days.
Saturday morning everyone is encouraged to come out for the premium livestock sale at 10 a.m.
Saturday will also feature the dutch oven cooking contest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
