Fallen trees due to recent storm damage have brought about the temporary closure for sections of the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail.
According to information gathered from the LOViT Facebook page The U.S. Corps of Engineers and U.S. Forest Service have closed a section of the LOViT between Crystal Springs Campground and Spillway Road. The closure is due to several fallen trees located on this section of the trail.
Members of the LOViT Traildogs are working to clear the trail with hopes that theĀ U.S. Corps of Engineers and U.S. Forest Service will offer assistance.
The trail section will be remain closed until the trail is clear of fallen trees.
Members of the Traildogs have been working to clear LOViT since a July 14 storm blew several trees down along the trail. They have cleared the first 10 miles or so of the trail from Denby Bay Trailhead to Thompkins Bend Trailhead, including Eagle Vista Loop. They have also cleared the trail between Shangri-La Road and Mountain Harbor Road.
