The campaign to raise money for artificial turf at Scrapper Stadium has received more than $675,000, Superintendent Doug Graham said Monday morning.

Of that amount, the school has already collected $500,000, Graham said, with the rest in pledges.

Athletic Director James “Bunch” Nichols and Coach Mike Volarvich have led the fund-raising effort.

If turf receives final approval, installation will be scheduled during the summer.

Also at Scrapper Stadium, demolition of the visitors stands will begin today (Wednesday), Graham said.

The existing stands will be replaced by a 1,088 seat structure which will match the design of the home stands.

The project will be completed in time for the 2016 football season.
