We survived another wave of tornado weather and heavy rains and flooding. There must be some climate changes in this area, because in my younger years I never witnessed such bad weather. Many of our close neighbors were just recovering from the last big rain and flooding, and are now afraid that before the water crests, they could repeat the same kind of damages. We will hope that the water don’t [sic] get to flood stage.
Sunday will be the most important holiday that some of us celebrate in May, and that’s Mother’s Day. People almost everywhere celebrate their Mother. We stop and take time to honor our Mother’s. Some will assembly for a family dinner and give thanks, others will send flowers or some other favorite thing that our individual parent enjoys. This is just a reminder to go ahead and honor your family’s tradition and pass it on to your children. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS!

We still have several on our sick list and prayers are requested for, Milton Hendrix, Lela James, Leotis Hopkins, Earnest Greenlee and Heather Brewer. We also send condolences to the family of Earnest Greenlee, whose brother passed away. Arrangements for the service are not available at this time.
Thanks for going to Ms. Donna for your beauty needs. I know everyone who sees you will want to know where did you go to get your beauty showing. Remember, she’s open on Friday and Saturday by appointment only. So call her and look glamorous for Mother’s Day.
BLACKS IN HISTORY
JACKIE ROBINSON, (1-31-1919-1972) Jackie Robinson was an American Major League Baseball second baseman, who became the first African American to play in the Major League in the modern era. Robinson suffered much humiliation when he broke the baseball color line, when the Brooklyn Dodgers played Robinson to end the racial segregation that had regulated Black players to the Negro League since 1880’s. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1962. Many enjoyed the quality and integrity of this excellent All-Star Athlete.
