kayakSTORY – Ouachita Kayak Tours, a guided kayak tour company operating on Arkansas’s Lake Ouachita, announced the company’s 2016 season opening this week. The occasion marks the beginning of the company’s second season in business having officially launched last May, following company founder Lisa Logan’s 700-mile circumnavigation of Lake Ouachita in 2014.
During Ouachita Kayak Tours’s inaugural season, Logan guided tours with guests from bordering states, Texas, Missouri, and Tennessee as well as visitors from as far away as Vermont and Massachusetts.
Although the 2016 season opening date was officially, Monday, April 4, Logan has actually already guided her first tour of the season. Last week, a couple visiting from Chicago, experienced kayakers who travel with their own boats, discovered they were interested in a finding a knowledgeable tour guide after venturing out on Lake Ouachita and seeing first hand how incredibly expansive it is at over 40,000 acres. A Google search led the couple to the Ouachita Kayak Tours Facebook page which currently has over 3300 followers. In a 5-star review left on the social media site, the couple wrote of Logan, “She let us set the pace, pointed out areas of interest and found shade for those of us who needed relief from the sun.”, and “We are looking forward to seeing another part of the lake when we return!” Logan said it was a truly enjoyable day and she could not have hoped for a better first tour of the year. Calls from visitors interested in booking tours are already coming in and Logan is looking forward to a great year.
