Lions basketball season ends with first round loss

basketball MI state 2 webMARMADUKE – The Mount Ida Lions saw their basketball season come to an end in the first round of the 2A state tournament with a 66-38 defeat at the hands of the Marked Tree Indians.
Marked Tree wasted no time seizing control of the game, jumping out to a 25-5 lead in the first period. The Lions were able to slow the pace in the second quarter, but the Indians still outscored them 15-11 to take a 40-16 lead at the half.
Marked Tree continued to add to their lead in the third with a 17-13 run. Mount Ida matched their nine point effort in the fourth period with the Indians advancing with the 28 point win.
TJ Wilson led the Lions in scoring with 18 points. He was six for nine from the free throw line. Cody Robertson and Anthony Spurling each scored eight points. Braison Ellison and Ty Whisenhunt each scored two.basketball MI state 4 web
