The Howard County Civil War historical marker will be unveiled in Center Point Saturday, May 7, in conjunction with the annual Center Point Volunteer Fire Department supper.
Nashville educator Frank Puryear will briefly discuss the events covered on the marker at 4 p.m., immediately before the supper.
The historical marker is one of 75 placed in each county in the state by the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission and the Department of Arkansas Heritage to relate the events unique to that area during the war.
The marker will be placed near the pavilion in Center Point and the historical marker dedicated to the founding of Howard County in 1876.
The public is invited to attend the unveiling and the VFD supper.
