The Old Willis Place by Mary Downing Hahn is my choice this week. Diana and Georgie are two kids who have lived in the woods around the old Willis place for as long as they can remember. They long to be free and leave forever and never come back.
When a new caretaker with an eleven year old daughter moves in, Diana longs to be her friend. But, Georgie doesn’t want to get in trouble. He’s afraid that they’ll get punished. Diana eventually becomes Lisa’s friend, but Lisa wants to go into the old house. When she opens the parlor door, she lets out an evil spirit that is after Diana and Georgie. Dun, Dun, DUN!!!!!!!
I really like this book because it is a ghost story. I love ghost stories! I’ve read a lot of Mary Downing Hahn’s books. “The Doll in the Garden,” and “Wait Till Helen Comes,” they’re all good books!
I’m going to tell you how to find a good book. Step one, think of something that interests you. Step two, Ask Mrs. Pope if you can search for a book. Step three, type in that topic, then click “Topic.” Step four, look at the list of books until you find a interesting looking book. Step five, find out the author’s last name, then go to the section where his/her books are. Find the book, then check it out and READ IT!!!
It’s as simple as that! SO DO IT! You see how successful I am? That’s because I READ! So, please take my advice and READ! Please! Just READ!
I hope you have enjoyed reading all my book reviews because I really enjoy doing good things for the News office and local Library. So, please keep reading the books that I recommend you read. Please, just don’t DEMAND the Library gets the books!!!
