ASHDOWN – Little River County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police are investigating the deaths of two elderly people as a murder-suicide.
On Tuesday afternoon, the LRCSD responded to a 911 call at a home on Highway 32 East “notifying them that they would find two bodies” at the residence, Ninth West Judicial District Prosecutor Bryan L. Chesshir confirmed Wednesday.
Chesshir added that investigators believe that the husband, James Judd, 75, made the phone call. When officers arrived at the residence, they found James Judd and his wife, Barbara, 73, dead.
The prosecutor also confirmed that a note was found taped on the front door that read, “She said she could not take the pain anymore… We want to be cremated.” The Judds were married for 53 years.
The bodies have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock.
“Pending the crime lab results, but, it appears to be a murder-suicide,” Chesshir ended.
