Hello from the Crater of Diamonds! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and Crater of Diamonds State Park is hosting a fun and unique hands-on workshop for crafty couples and friends.
Wire crafting is the ancient practice of making sculptures and other ornamental figures out of wire and components. Crafters often incorporate outdoor elements into their designs to create captivating pieces inspired by nature.
On Saturday, February 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., participants are invited to meet at the Crater of Diamonds to learn about the art of wire sculpture and make a 6” tree out of copper or brass wire, jasper beads, and a conglomerate or agate base from the park’s diamond search area. Attendees may also bring their own beads or other decorations to add to their creations.
Each pair may choose to make trees together or individually. Cost is $30 per tree, including a non-refundable $15 registration fee due by February 5. The remaining $15 will be due on the day of the workshop. Materials are limited, and a minimum of four participants is required. For more information or to register, call Crater of Diamonds State Park at 870-285-3113 by Friday, February 5.
