Delight branch of the Pike County Library will host the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Sweater Drive this year to benefit those in need of extra help keeping warm.
The library is collecting new or gently worn sweaters, coats, jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts and vests in any sizes from newborn to larger adults” sizes. The drive will continue through Dec. 11.
The library will host a celebration of the event on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 3:30 following the city’s Christmas parade. There will be a faux cast of characters and a special appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog.
This is a joint effort with AETN and the Salvation Army. More information is available on the library’s Facebook page or by calling Ginny Evans at (870) 379-2456.
Prior to the parade, the library will offer hot chocolate, lemonade, “Frannie’s fried pies,” Joy Ray Jewelry, Mahana Sisters Crafts and attendees can watch the parade from the library’s benches. Also on hand will be local authors Penny Richards and Linda Pennington Black.
