JOPLIN – A pair of accidents happened within a half mile of one another Tuesday, November 23, just outside Joplin.
The single vehicle accidents were unrelated and no one was seriously injured in either accident.
The first accident happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday approximately two miles east of Joplin. A silver Honda SUV driven by Virginia Kellar appeared to have been traveling west bound on Highway 270 when she crossed over the highway and into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
Joplin Volunteer Fire Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. Kellar was attended to by first responders and left shortly after they arrived.
While the first responders and officers were working the accident a call came in that another car had left the roadway approximately one half mile east of the original accident scene.
When first responders arrived they discovered a red PT Cruiser driven by Arnetta Minton in the ditch on the south side of Highway 270. Southwest EMS arrived on the scene and examined Minton. She left the scene with her husband.
No major injuries were reported in either accident.
