ACORN – The Ouachita River School District Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Oden basketball coach Chet Dycus at a special called school board meeting held recently.
According to school superintendent Jerry Strasner the board met November 12 for the purpose of discussing Dycus’s resignation. The board was in executive session for just under 20 minutes before reconvening. The vote to accept his resignation was unanimous.
When asked about a reason for the resignation, Strasner stated that he could not divulge any reasons due to this being a personnel issue. Current Arkansas Freedom of Information Act guidelines prohibit entities from providing most personnel records.
Acorn Coach David Willsey is currently filling in as coach for all four basketball teams at Oden.
Dycus had served as basketball coach for all four teams at Oden since last year. He had coached at Caddo Hills prior to coaching at Oden.
Superintendent Strasner stated that the school has started the hiring process to fill the vacant position. He said that the district had already received nine applications for the position. Strasner added that the priority is to find the right person for the job, but he commented that the position could be filled as soon as the beginning of the Spring semester.
