MOUNT IDA – Mount Ida board members moved forward with a plan to purchase a new steamer to be installed in the cafeteria at Bobby Barrett Elementary School.
Nan Wilson, federal programs director for Mount Ida Schools, sat in for Superintendent Hal Landrith as he recovers from surgery. She explained that the steamer will be paid for by a food service equipment assistance grant the school received from the Arkansas Department of Education Child Nutrition Unit. The grant is valued at $17,754.
Members of the school’s staff attended the Arkansas School Nutrition Association Food Show to visit with vendors and to gather information regarding the best solution for the school’s need.
The board voted to open the bidding process and to purchase the most appropriate steamer for the school’s needs within the funds provided by the grant.
The board also heard reports from the principals and discussed board member training.
