Mr. Jerry Dickerson, affectionately known as “J.R.” was born July 31, 1925 to the parentage of Robert, Sr. and Elizabeth Dickerson in Palestine, Texas. He received his formal education at Foster Elementary—High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy serving from 1945 to 1947 with an honorable discharge. In 1947, “JR” relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and joined the police force serving 15 years. He later moved to Tollette, Arkansas, where he remained. In 1969, he met and married his soulmate, Delphine Graves, she was a loving wife of 27 years until her demise in 1996. “JR” confessed Christ as his savior and united with the Floyd T. Jean CME Church, under the leadership of Pastor Elroy Stewart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr. and Elizabeth Dickerson; five sisters, Ruby, Lenabel, Mimi, Nancy and Verdie Mae; three brothers, John Lee, Willie and Robert Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories, one sister, Thelma; one sister-in-law, Jessean Dickerson; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Dickerson will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at F.T. Jean Memorial CME Church. Burial will be at Crofton Cemetery in Tollette. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
