ROSBORO — On Tuesday, October 6th at the Arkansas School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) annual conference, Centerpoint School District’s Jimmy Forsythe was recognized as a Certified Arkansas School Plant Manager.
Forsythe is currently serving in his fifth year as the Director of Facilities and Transportation for the Centerpoint School District
The certification is based on a comprehensive program developed by ASPMA in 2012 to meet the needs of Arkansas school facility managers, so they might better serve their districts in regards to the facilities in which the students learn, play, and dine. Certification is in multiple areas, including: health, safety, code compliance and facility cleanliness; and requires mastery knowledge of building systems, and how those systems relate to each other to create the total building environment.
To receive certification, a plant manager must have appropriate experience in facility management, receive satisfactory recommendations, and complete the required coursework.
Superintendent Dan Breshears commented, “Having Jimmy on board has been critical to the success of our both our maintenance and transportation departments here at Centerpoint … he does lots of things for our district that assistant superintendents handle in larger districts, and I’d put the quality of those departments up against any other in the state … in large part to his leadership.”
