Junior Scrappers continue to roll unbeaten

The Nashville Junior Scrappers’ winning streak stands at 41 games after their 48-12 mercy rule win over the Hope Bobkittens Sept. 17.

Nashville ran up 30 points in the first quarter and added 18 in the third and fourth quarters, while Hope’s only scores came in the third.

The Scrappers struck quickly, scoring on a 6-yard run by TK Hopkins with 6:29 left in the first quarter. Jake Moorer ran for the 2-point conversion.

The Scrappers scored again 25 seconds later on a 36-yard pass from Moorer to Jamarta Gilliam.

Nashville added another TD with 5:10 to go in the first quarter on a 30-yard run by Hopkins, who also ran for the 2-point conversion. Hopkins scored again with less than a minute to go in the quarter on a 5-yard run. Moorer passed to Jayden Medina for the 2-point conversion.

Neither team scored in the second quarter.

Gilliam caught a 36-yard TD pass from Moorer in the third quarter, followed by a 38-yard scoring run by Hopkins.

Nashville’s final TD of the night came on a 12-yard run by Carmillias Morrison.

Moorer completed 6 of 16 passes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Hopkins had 8 carries for 115 rushing yards and 4 TDs.

Moorer carried the ball 5 times for 72 yards. Morrison had 2 carries for 22 yards and a score.

Gilliam was the leading receiver with 3 catches for 95 yards and 2 TDs. Jayden Hostetler had 1 catch for 34 yards. Medina caught 1 pass for 25 yards. Hopkins had 1 catch for 7 yards.

The Scrappers had 380 yards total offense, including 219 rushing and 161 passing.

The Scrapper defense limited Hope to 18 passing yards and 182 rushing for a total of 200 yards total offense.

Nashville will play Ashdown Thursday at 7 p.m. at Scrapper Stadium.

Eighth grade

The eighth grade Scrappers defeated Hope 42-0 Thursday night.

The Scrappers scored in every quarter for the win.

Lance Easter completed 2 of 5 passes for 89 yards, 1 touchdown and an interception.

Morrison was the leading rusher with 8 carries for 151 yards and 3 TDs.

Easter ran the ball 3 times for 97 yards and a TD.

Jakob Jefferson had 3 carries for 1 yards and a score.

Ty Basiliere, Davonte Witherspoon and Morrison ran for 2-point conversions.

Witherspoon had 1 catch for 66 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Lott had 1 catch for 23 yards.

The eighth graders had 375 yards total offense. Hope put up 46 yards.

Nashville will host Ashdown Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
