GLENWOOD – Red, white and moo, the PCF wants ewe.
So says the 2015 theme for the annual event, which is set for September 22-26, marking the 64th annual Pike County Fair and Rodeo.
“The board’s goal is to have a great fair again this year,” says program literature for the event. “Don’t forget to mark your calendar for September 22-26. Come on out and have some fun.”
On Monday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. the Pike County Rodeo Royalty Pageant will be held.
The event will officially be kicked off by the Pike County Fair parade at 5:30 on Tuesday, September 22. Nick Fowler will serve as the Grand Marshal. Lineup will be at Glenwood Nursing Home and the field located beside before heading down Broadway to the fairgrounds.
The annual fair talent contest will follow the parade at the fairgrounds, and will precede the Mrs. Pike County Fair Queen pageant for contestants 60 years old or older.
The board announces that Tim Parker Ram will gain sponsor the rodeo which will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 26 at 8:00 p.m. Mutton Bustin’, or kids riding sheep, will be held before the rodeo both nights at 7:30 p.m.
Beauty contests will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, September 23-24. There is an admission fee of $5 for those 12 and older, $3 for those 6-11 years old and free to those 5 years old and younger.

Livestock barns will open at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m., while the buildings will be open for viewing from 3-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 and until 10 p.m. on Sept. 23-26.
The midway will be open until 11 p.m. Sept. 23-26. The concession stand will be open after the parade and each evening beginning at 6 p.m. through Saturday.
“Many man-hours are volunteered to bring our fair together each year – not just our board members,” said program literature. “All the exhibitors being something to the fair to show and the workers volunteer their time to make it possible.”
The public is invited join their friends and neighbors for a morning of work and camaraderie at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12 as the fairgrounds are cleaned and prepped for the annual event.
The 2015 Pike County Fair Association Board is comprised of the following officers: Dana Cowart, president; Jim Barnett, vice president; Tameria Nolen, secretary; Jackie Bowen, treasurer; Debbie Whisenhunt, reporter.
Non-officer members of the board include: Mark Berry, Jack Lee, Rodney Hudgins, Scott Maroon, Vance Wilson, Karen Voan and Amanda Minton.
