Don Porter, age 67, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015.

He was born on July 11, 1948, at Amity, the son of Otis Wilson Porter and Annie McGough Porter.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Don was a well-known hairdresser.  He and his wife, Lydia, owned and operated several successful salons in the Hot Springs area until his retirement in 2006.  He was an active church member and avid tennis player.  He had a keen sense of humor, enjoyed crossword puzzles and had a daily dedication to Judge Judy and Jeopardy.  He loved and valued his time with his family and his dog, Jasmine.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lydia Porter of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Misti and Donnie Holland of Benton and Andrea and Mark Thurman of Greenbrier; one granddaughter, Morgan Smith; four step-grandchildren, Logan and Casey Thurman, and Haley and Haden Holland; three brothers, Herbert Porter of Amity, Orby Porter of Texas and Douglas Porter of Alpine; four sisters, Betty Whisenhunt of Amity, Mary Nell Kersey of Kirby, Anita Francis of Amity and Winnie Morris of Dierks.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2015, in the Lake Valley Community Church with Lamar Trieschmann officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice and his wonderful caregivers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
