ROSBORO — With spring practice, summer conditioning and 7 on 7 games behind the Centerpoint Knights, the next step for the squad is the 2015 football season.
In the first week of practice, the team began drills in both offense and defense, dividing the team into parts to go over their responsibilities to help ensure team member will react in the manner as the coaches have designed each play.
The next step will be full team practices in pads and then contact, but current drills include such activities as pass defense by going down field and intercepting the pass, defensive and offensive lines going over blocking patterns, offensive backfield team members going through hand off drills and offensive passing drills.
The first week of full football practice for both the Junior and Senior Knights featured the approximately 30 players who attended the required session throughout the summer.
Sights are now set to the first week of school on Monday, August 17 then onto the Friday, August 21 Purple and Gold game.
Prior to the game at 7 p.m. the Knights will have a benefit cook-out which will start at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds go toward supporting the Knights Athletic Department.
This year’s benefit games for the Senior Knights will occur at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 24 at DeQueen High School.
Besides Centerpoint, Mineral Springs and DeQueen senior high teams will be taking part.
The three schools junior high teams will play in Mineral Springs on Tuesday, August 25 at 6 p.m.
