Runners, joggers and walkers will wind their way through Mount Ida Saturday as the Montgomery County 4-H Clubs present the 4-H Color Splash 5K and Kids Dash.
The event returns to town with a new name, but filled with even more fun as participants make through way through the streets of Mount Ida. As they pass checkpoints, volunteers shower them with colored powder.
The event is meant to promote fun and exercise in the community and the local 4-Hers encourage everyone to dress up in their wackiest and most colorful costumes for the event.
County Extension Agent Amy Monk stated that this year they are asking local businesses and groups to register as a team and compete. A catered lunch for up to 10 will be awarded to the largest team and also to the best dressed team.
Registration for the Splash and Dash will begin at 8 a.m. that morning. The Kids Dash will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K will kick off at 9 a.m.
The event is one of two big fundraisers for the local 4-H clubs and is crucial to their success in our community.
Runners can sign up online at www.racesonline.com
Registration  is $30 from Aug. 23-28 and $35 the day of the event. The cost for the Kids Dash will be $10 per child. T-shirts will be included with the fee.
